Damn right.

I think radical honesty is the difference between wanting to be better and becoming better. When we’re honest with ourselves we permit ourselves to say the shitty things we don’t want to hear like “you don’t have flawless skin” and “you’re kind of broke” and giving ourselves permission to admit these things frees us from having to hide them- that’s where I’ve found the learning.

So, as an example: the other day I posted a picture with me holding a Dunkin Donuts coffee and someone called my choice in coffee “weak”. I knew they meant “not boujee enough” and I was prepared to defend my bank account by saying “I normally drink Starbucks but today I just…” then I asked myself honestly why did that make me feel bad?

It made me feel bad because I’m not rich and I can’t go around buying $7 coffees every day. Once I admitted that to myself I found it a lot easier to say “hey- fuck you and your opinion of my choice in coffee” to the person who decided they needed to critique me.

You are strong and your strength comes from within- that’s not some old saying, it’s the damn truth.
