Energy Management in Action
The demands on you are probably the highest they’ve ever been. If I had to bet I’d place mine on the fact that you expect the demands on your time and attention to increase rather than decrease in the near future. We all understand that time is finite. The amount of work you can get done is constrained by the amount of time you have to do the work. That’s 24 hours every day for every one. Nobody get’s special treatment in this domain. So, as demand increases and your capacity to get everything done in a day dwindles- what are you to do?
Manage your energy, not your time. — The Energy Project
I have written about Energy Management in the past so I won’t go into depth on the concept or what The Energy Project is but as I explain the core principles of the approach to people the biggest source of confusion seems to stem from the practical application of the theory. I hear this a lot:
“It’s great- in theory- to manage your energy rather than your time. You know, work smarter not harder. But I don’t get how the 4 pillars of energy management help me in my day to day operations.”
Fair complaint.
In this post, I will give a few practical examples of The Energy Management framework and how to use the theory to improve your current habits.
