Everything You Didn’t Know About AngelList
Two guys meet at a house party. It’s 2007 and Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s (what ever happened to them?) is undoubtedly playing in the background. Babak Nivi approaches Naval Ravikant and they begin chatting about a company Babak was building at the time. Naval gave him advice on everything from fundraising to term sheet negotiations all the way down to what Naval calls “The Game Theory of Raising Money.”
Back then, it (investing) was very opaque and there was a long process and Nivi said, “how come I’m the only one who's learning all this? I’m going to write it down.” -Naval Ravikant
Babak was blown away by the depth of Naval’s knowledge and he asked if he could write a blog loosely translated on Naval’s information and experiences. It speaks volumes about the type of guy that Naval is that he not only agreed to let Babak record and translate his stream of consciousness but also write it down in a public blog called Venture Hacks for anyone to read.
