I am not surprised by the statistics in this article, nor do I doubt their validity, but I don’t think they are as negative as you make them out to be. For example,. the stat that 47% of business majors are under-employed simply means that their skills aren't being fully utilized. However, these individuals are still contributing to society in a meaningful way, in most cases. I understand the concept you are trying to highlight but I think it is a little over generalized to assume that technical employees aren't as generous and well intentioned as workers in the humanities and arts. That being said, I enjoyed reading this article and watching the TED talk you suggested!
