I love the correlation here: someone generally does a favor only for people that they like, so it stands to reason that someone can come to like those that they do favors for.

I wonder how this works with “forced” favors. For example, a work colleague asks “can you do me a favor” and proceeds to ask you to change out the water cooler or something like that. Obviously, because we’re polite people, we say yes- but did we want to? No.

In this instance, does the favor rule still apply?
