Info Redesign for The Real World

Whenever we are presented with a piece of information our brain quickly takes into account the context and our environment and decodes the information which cues us to act in some way. The information could be anything from a speed limit to a price tag, it doesn't matter- once given a piece of data our brain immediately works to interpret it and give us advice.

The way in which information is presented to us is the determinant of how easy or hard it is for our brains to give us the advice we need to make good decisions. Take the following visual design as an example:

As the graphic suggests, using standard colors to represent important objects is a good way to help the brain make connections faster and thus get us good advice quicker. The better the information is presented, the quicker our brains can make the correct associations and the faster we can get the right advice.
