Jarrett Wilson I think where we are missing each other is in the causation versus correlation dimension.
It sounds like you are arguing that language (and humans unique ability to communicate our desires and feelings in detail to each other) is the cause of our ability to be able to predict and plan for a future that is unknown.
I am arguing that language (our unique ability to communicate desires and feelings in detail to each other) is correlated with our ability to predict and plan for a future that is unknown in that we can do it more easily and convey ideas more readily to each other but I am not convinced that language is the reason we are able to do this- I think humans have theory of mind and other species do not.
I think humans would have theory of mind with or without spoken or unspoken language- it’s just easier to demonstrate with language.
What do you think of that reasoning?
