Justin Scott that’s interesting. So, there is no reward for them other than perhaps the recognition of their peers and the small chance at recognition from others if the research was really profound and took off with the mainstream media, but if they don’t publish in academic journals they get penalized.

It seems, following that logic, that the root cause of the problem then is academic institutions as employers- not necessarily researchers and academics themselves. Would you agree?
