Looking For Founders
To say that I am a self-sufficient person would be a massive understatement. I’ve been working alone since I learned to tie my own shoes. I love the feeling of having full control and autonomy over decisions and I respect the emotions that come with the territory. If you do a great job- you know who to congratulate but if you mess up, there is absolutely no one to blame but yourself.
There are many challenges that come with wanting to work alone. From feeling like a bully during group projects at University to explaining perfectionism without sound like an elitist to a group of colleague consultants. At every turn, the independent worker faces social and organizational difficulties- and these weigh heavily on us.
The truth is- this world is not designed for the solo-worker.
As with most things, though, I find comfort in knowing that entrepreneurial innovation can solve this problem. Everywhere you look, startups are reshaping the traditional work experience. From unlimited vacation to on-site fitness facilities to my personal favorite- Google’s 20% time, you can find examples of entrepreneurs laughing in the face of the status quo and making leaps forward leaving traditional 9–5 on-site employment in the dust.
