Sascha Brodsky Unfortunately, regulation hasn’t caught up to this sentiment yet. HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), for example, is one of the most authoritative entities regulating patient data. Because the HIPPA regulations around the transfer of patient data are so strict, doctors usually can’t obtain medical data from an unregulated third-party source and use it to diagnosis or help diagnose a patient.

This poses serious complications for all parties involved because patients want their doctors to be aware of the health data collected by their smart devices but doctors often are not allowed to get involved with the data coming from these devices.

Great article, very imforamtive- thanks!
