Sivabudh Umpudh To be clear: it is economically impossible to purchase time and it unethical to think that one can buy the constitutionally granted free rights of another human being. I understand your point, sarcastic as it was, but if you truly believe that employees contribute nothing more than work-product to their organization we have bigger issues than fixed salary rate to discuss.
There are plenty of employees who are paid per material produced- this is called piece work and it is awful for employee happiness and productivity.
Employees deserve to feel fulfilled by their work and an employer treating them as a means to an end is not going to help them or the company. If employers want to hire and retain bright, productive, and intrinsically motivated employees they are going to need to begin treating them with respect and trust- those who do will be the long term winners and those who do not will be left behind and eventually eradicated.
