So is the benefit of PWAs the fact that they take up fewer resources than traditional apps?

I get the want to move out from under the duopoly of the Google Play and Apple App stores simply for the reason that monopolies and by extension (and for the same reasons) duopolies are bad for consumer choice- but is this the only reason for blowing up the “walled garden that keeps you locked into the products Apple and Google allow into their app stores” ?
