The 5 whys is a technique I learned at a workshop for entrepreneurs I attended recently and when I first heard it described I rolled my eyes because, to be honest, it sounded really cheesy.

I could not have been more wrong and I am so glad I listened to my mentors and completed the exercise even though I didn’t believe in it. The outcome was really eye-opening for me and I thought I would share it with the entrepreneurial community here on Medium and my other social platforms.

The rules of the exercise are really simple, all you do is answer the question: what is your businesses’ purpose? And then ask “but why?” 5 times.

My story is as follows:

What is your businesses’ purpose?

I started Quantified Coaching because I was struggling to find balance in my own life between work, exercise, family obligations, dating, my social life, and the passion projects I had going on at the time. I didn’t know what exactly the problem was, I just knew that I was really stressed and always tired.
