This is one of those tricky conflicts where we see a technology do so much to enhance our lives but witness that same technology use the same concept to end lives, as is the heartbreaking case of 21-year-old Samantha Josephson.

If we are going to update our social norms and make it okay to allow strangers to enter the spaces we previously reserved for close contacts, we need to update our mental alarm system with them.

No more walking around with your head down looking at your phone, no more opening the door without verifying who is on the other side, no more being so casual about safety.
