This is so important. The way we treat people we admire weighs heavily on them. Whether it’s sports, acting, or writing- great and talented people often get put in this “perfection box.” One way we can stop immortalizing them and start treating them like humans who go through the same struggles as the rest of us is by working to change the discussion. Instead of saying “he is a legend” or “she is a genius” we can start saying things like “he has accomplished some extraordinary things” and “she has a brilliant mind.” These language shifts may take the burden off of the athlete or artist to be incredible all the time. Thanks for writing this!
