To be honest, I don’t think people give enough credit to selfishness as medicine. The whole world thrusts their expectations on to you since the moment of birth. Your parents want you to crawl and walk and learn language, your teachers want you to conduct advanced mathematics and write essays, then employers and significant others and eventually children have their own desires that they put on you.
Being selfish is good for the soul. It can be lonely, as this beautifully crafted article depicts, but it can also be therapeutic.
