For this weeks’ Wearable Insight I chose to breakdown the Training Load feature on the Garmin fenix 5 sport watch. If you are unfamiliar with this Werable Insights series I suggest you read the first post as it describes what you can expect from this series as well as some background information on the device that I am personally using called the Garmin fenix 5.

What is Training Load?

Great question. I actually asked myself (and social media) this question earlier last week because I was pretty confused as to what exactly this feature was measuring and how it was monitoring changes to my “training load.”

As you can probably tell from the photo on the left, I was a little more than frustrated at the lack of clarity that this Training Load feature provided.

To be clear- this is prior to my taking the time to deep-dive into the feature and before any research was conducted to understand what data is used to measure performance, and which inputs influence the “score”.

But on the other hand, that is kind of the point of a score (in my opinion) — so…
