Well… yes, and no. Occupy Wall Street was a newspaper headline that turned into a movement but yes, technically it was an event (that lasted weeks).
The Great Recession was less of an event and more of a tough lifestyle, but it can be called an economic event looking back on it.
Obamacare is a regulatory Act put into place by the government. I can’t make the case for that one as an event.
The Housing Crash was an economic event through and through. It was caused primarily by financial mismanagement that led to a change in the economy.
Trumps Tariff Wars is more like Obamacare: a government-led policy that is having a huge impact on the economy by way of effecting global trade.
Interesting article, though, I agree with you 100% on the fact that more people need to take up an interest (even just a basic interest) in economics and economic news that is relative to their lives.
